How come that some people, businesses or leaders are more successful than others in inspiring change? According to Simon Sinec inspiring people act from the why and not from the what. Those who know their purpose, act from it and live by it are more successful than people who don’t. Knowing what really matters to us keeps us motivated to take steps and work towards our goals. In an earlier post I emphasised that change starts with clarifying what is important to you to set goals and take actions that are aligned with your purpose. So, when have you last asked yourself the question:

Have you ever kept yourself busy in order to put off getting started with a big project or making that change? Chances are that you have. Making the important initial step is often the most difficult task. When we procrastinate we keep ourselves busy with many things – cleaning the desk, getting that second cup of coffee or checking email for the ten’s time.

One of the most common reasons we get ourselves stuck in inaction is the avoidance of fear. The fear of failure, success, pain, rejection or embarrassment. However, you can do two things to transform the habit of procrastination into action.

Everyone can become a great speaker

Speaking in front of an audience is one of the most common fears people experience.

It is still quite common that people believe that to excel in public speaking you must have some kind of talent. But my experience and research (I will get to this later in my post) has proven that this isn’t so. Everyone can learn to be a great speaker and enjoy it. The only thing that holds most people back is the anxiety they experience.
